Beechwood provides a wide range of rehabilitation services through an interdisciplinary team
comprised of a variety of experienced professionals.
The focus on program development encompasses the following fields and disciplines –
Speech and language therapists, neuropsychologists, educational specialists and occupational therapists develop and implement compensatory strategies to make the real world more logical and accessible.
Our medical director, nursing staff, neurologist, physiatrist and psychiatrist work together to address the ongoing needs of each individual.
Our staff physiatrist and a team of physical and occupational therapists address the realistic issues of physical accessibility.
Licensed psychologists, coordinating with other members of the team, assist in the achievement of goals to enhance interpersonal relationships, self-awareness, and adjustment to disability. Special focus may be placed upon personal issues such as substance abuse and sexuality.
Led primarily by our speech and language pathologists, each team works to enhance communication skills. Our teams have the expertise to focus on individuals who are highly verbal as well as those whose limited speech requires specialized techniques, including communication devices.
When recommended by the rehabilitation plan, we offer a full continuum of vocational services. A comprehensive vocational evaluation is completed within the first 30 days of enrollment in our services. The vocational program is coordinated with other professional services and can provide up to 29 ½ hours per week of employment.
Services include sheltered employment, workstations in industry, affirmative industry, client-run business, competitive job placement and employment, and community integrated volunteer arrangements. Our vocational programs are licensed by relevant regulatory agencies and meet the standards of the Department of Labor. Job coaching and follow up are provided upon placement in a work setting.
As an alternative, Structured Day Programming is available to provide meaningful activities for people not ready to deal with the rigors of work-readiness and job placement.
Case Management
Our experienced case managers ensure that each individual served, their representatives, numerous professionals, and others work together as an interdisciplinary team to facilitate successful movement toward success in achieving specific goals.
Residential program managers, direct care workers, life skills trainers and recreational staff all work to provide a home-like therapeutic environment. This environment promotes the concept of real-life experiences in a supportive setting so that day to day functioning becomes routine and real again.
